Burgers and donuts: Burger King to buy Tim Hortons

Burger King Worldwide on Tuesday confirmed plans to acquire Tim Hortons, and the new company will have combined sales of $23 billion.
Berkshire Hathaway chairman and CEO Warren Buffett is helping finance Burger King’s takeover of Canadian chain Tim Hortons by committing $3 billion in preferred equity financing.
Under the terms of the deal, which has been approved by both boards, Tim Hortons shareholders will receive C$ 65.50 in cash and 0.8025 common shares of the new company for every Tim Hortons share. Based on Burger King’s closing stock price as of August 22, this represents a total value per Tim Hortons share of C$89.32. Based on Burger King’s closing stock price as of August 25, this represents total value per Tim Hortons share of C$94.05.
Amid speculation that the deal was motivated to save taxes by moving U.S. company headquarters to a foreign country, sources said the U.S. would receive at least as much in taxes, not less, if Burger King moved its headquarters to Canada.
Buffett’s involvement in the deal was initially reported by The Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the matter.

Today’s Inspiration

Chosen and Adopted

by Joyce Meyer – posted August 26, 2014

Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. For He foreordained us (destined us, planned in love for us) to be adopted (revealed) as His own children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the purpose of His will [because it pleased Him and was His kind intent].
—]. Ephesians 1:4-5

You understand adoption in the natural sense. You know some children without parents are adopted by people who purposely choose them and raise them as their own. In the same way you have been chosen and brought into the family of God even though you were previously an outsider, unrelated to God in any way. God in His great mercy redeemed you and purchased you with the blood of His own Son, and He has provided an inheritance that is wonderful beyond understanding. God has many good things in His plan for you so start expecting blessings!
