Ben Carson leads field … for Trump VP pick

Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson complained in an op-ed on FoxNews.com on Monday that pundits have turned the presidential race into “blood sport” and that they “salivate” over polling numbers.
Carson vowed (once again) that he will not drop out of the race despite his relatively low showing in those polls. (He is currently virtually tied for last among Republican candidates in the RealClearPolitics polling average.
“I trust that the American people will soon wake-up and realize that leadership is not about how one speaks, but rather the life one leads,” Carson wrote.
Ironically, another poll released Monday actually has him leading the field — of potential vice presidential picks for Donald Trump.
Morning Consult asked Republican and Republican-leaning independent voters over the weekend who the real estate magnate should pick and came up with this result:
• Ben Carson 11%
• Ted Cruz 9%
• Marco Rubio 9%
• John Kasich 8%
• Chris Christie 8%
• Jeb Bush 4%
Nearly 40% of respondents said they didn’t know or didn’t have an opinion. Two percent picked Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks and star on ABC’s Shark Tank.

A New Nature

by Joyce Meyer – posted March 01, 2016

Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come! – 2 Corinthians 5:17

God’s Word teaches us that when we receive Christ as our Savior and Lord, He gives us a new nature (see 2 Corinthians 5:17). He gives us His nature. He also gives us a spirit of discipline and self- control, which is vital in allowing us to choose the ways of our new nature. And He gives us a sound mind (see 2 Timothy 1:7). That means we can think about things properly without being controlled by emotion.

Every believer can be thankful that the way we once were passes away, and we have all the equipment we need for a brand-new way of behaving. With God’s help we can choose spirit over flesh and right over wrong. Our renewed spirits can now control our souls and bodies or, to say it another way, the inner person can control the outer person. Then we can live out God’s plan for our lives.

Prayer of Thanks Father, I thank You that I am a new creation in You. I am so grateful for a fresh start and the new nature You have given me. Help me to leave the old ways behind today and live a brand-new, joy-filled life of victory in You.

China’s central bank, the People’s Bank of China, has cut further the reserve requirement ratio, the amount of cash the country’s banks have to hold, in an attempt to calm investor jitters over the world’s second largest economy.
The PBOC cut the ratio by 0.5 percentage points after the country’s markets closed Monday. The cut, which comes into effect Tuesday, means that most large Chinese banks will have a reserve ratio of 17 percent, Reuters reported.
Asia shares mostly lower, Shanghai off 2.9%, Nikkei down 1%
This is the fifth time since last February that the PBoC has cut its ratio, the last cut being on October 23.
China’s stock markets had another torrid day Monday: The Shanghai composite pared some losses to close down 79.38 points, or 2.87 percent, at 2,687.82 points, after earlier trading down as much as 4.63 percent. The Shenzhen composite slid 93.18 points, or 5.36 percent to 1,643.35 points.
Latest government figures show that the Chinese economic growth rate slowed to a 25-year low of 6.9 percent in 2015 and 6.8 percent in the fourth quarter of last year.
In a statement reported by Reuters, the PBOC said the move was made to ensure ample supply of liquidity in the system.

A Spiritual Sabbath

by Joyce Meyer – posted February 29, 2016

Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell].
—Hebrews 4:11

If you read the entire fourth chapter of the book of Hebrews, you will find it speaking about a Sabbath rest that is available to God’s people. Under the Old Covenant, the Sabbath was observed as a day of rest. Under the New Covenant, this Sabbath rest spoken of is a spiritual place of rest. It is the privilege of every believer to refuse to worry or have anxiety. As a believer, you can enter the rest of God.

The only way to enter that rest is through believing. You will forfeit it through unbelief and disobedience. Unbelief will keep you in the wilderness, but Jesus has provided a permanent place of rest that can be inhabited exclusively through living by faith.
