It has undergone a remarkable intensification, \u201cand there are no signs it will stop soon,\u201d the National Hurricane Center said in an update early Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome areas when they wake up Thursday morning, they\u2019re not going to believe what happened,\u201d Stacy Stewart, a senior hurricane specialist at the hurricane center, said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe could see storm surge heights more than 15 feet in some areas,\u201d Stewart said. \u201cWhat doesn\u2019t get blown down by the wind could easily get knocked down by the rising ocean waters pushing well inland.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Laura has grown nearly 70% in power in just 24 hours, with maximum sustained winds increasing to 110 mph (175 kph) with higher gusts, forecasters said early Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are expecting widespread power outages, trees down. Homes and businesses will be damaged,\u201d said Donald Jones, a National Weather Service meteorologist in Lake Charles, Louisiana, which is near the bullseye of Laura\u2019s forecast track.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m telling you, this is going to be a very serious situation,\u201d Jones said.<\/p>\n<p>A Category 4 hurricane will do catastrophic damage: \u201cPower outages will last weeks to possibly months. Most of the area will be uninhabitable for weeks or months,\u201d the weather service says.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Today&#8217;s Inspiration<\/strong><\/p>\n<header>\n<h1>Pray and Obey<\/h1>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"reading-options\">\n<ul class=\"nav social\">\n<ul class=\"nav social\">For many years, I wanted God to speak to me, but I also wanted to pick and choose which instructions to obey. I wanted to do what He said to do if it was easy and I thought it was a good idea, but if I didn\u2019t like what I heard, I acted like it wasn\u2019t from God!<\/ul>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">Some of what God asks you to do will be fun and exciting. Other things He says may not be so thrilling, but that doesn\u2019t mean they won\u2019t work out for your good if you\u2019ll simply follow His instructions. If God tells you that you need to apologize because you were rude to someone, it won\u2019t work for you to reply, \u201cWell, that person was rude to me, too!\u201d If you respond to Him with excuses, you may have prayed and even heard God\u2019s voice, but you didn\u2019t obey, so you forfeited the blessing you would have had.<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">Looking back at more than three decades of walking with God and being in ministry, I have to say that the simplest explanation for the success Dave and I have enjoyed is that we\u2019ve become quick to pray, hear from God, and then do what He tells us to do. Over the years, as I\u2019ve sought God and pressed forward in what He\u2019s told me to do, I can say that more than anything else, I\u2019ve learned to simply pray and obey. Doing this hasn\u2019t always been popular, but it has worked!<\/p>\n<p class=\"selectionShareable\">If you want to experience God\u2019s plan for your life, I can give you the recipe in its most basic form: pray and obey.
